In order to help keep our program cost as low as possible (and considerably less than other programs in our area), we try to find easy fundraising opportunities for our players and their families. Due to MSHSL guidelines, we are not allowed to grant full scholarships.
The Rockford Area Athletic Association (RAAA) has several group fundraising opportunities throughout the year that include Billy’s Bingo, basketball tournaments and a pancake breakfast. We rely on and greatly appreciate the parents and players that assist with these events and make them a success.
Rockford JO Club Volleyball also needs to seek out individual fundraisers to directly support our program:
1. Our biggest fundraiser of the year will be the Rockford Rumble Volleyball Tournament in March. EVERY PLAYER will be required to help with this tournament. We would also appreciate as much parent involvement as possible to make the tournament move as smoothly as possible. More information will be available in January 2014.
2. The 2013-2014 JO Volleyball program will include the Sunday Night Women’s Adult Volleyball League. We need to provide 6 refs and 6 score board flippers for every night that they meet at the Rockford Community Center or Rockford Elementary Arts Magnet School. In exchange they will be making a generous donation to our program that will help reduce the the amount we charge this year. EVERY PLAYER will be required to referee or score flip a minimum of 3 shifts this season. Exact number of shifts will be determined after registration is completed. Players may OPT OUT by paying an additional $30 player fee which will be used for scholarships.
If you will be on the 10s, 11s, 12s or 13s teams this year, we would like you to come in and work the flip score boards. You may also be asked to be the time keeper (keep an eye on the time on a stop watch). This is a great opportunity to help with real volleyball games because all players will be asked to referee, line judge or do the books at JO tournaments and play-dates. Practice now will help.
If you will be on the 14s, 15s, 16s or 17/18s teams this year, we would like you to come in and referee the games. You will be signaling the serve and make basic calls (in, out, net faults, etc.). Again, this is a great opportunity to referee because you will be asked to referee at JO tournaments as well. Practice now will help.
The league rules are posted on the website under Forms & Links. Please read them prior to coming to ref.
3. Concessions – last year we ran concessions for the Rockford Business Expo. We may be there again this year if it does not conflict with the JO schedule.
4. Billy’s Bingo – you may work at Billy’s Bingo on Monday night (adults only) to reduce your player fees. You will earn $10 per night per person working. If you would like to sign up, please go to Billy’s Bingo Sign Ups. Be sure to put JO Volleyball after your name so that you get credit for working. You may also volunteer to work and the funds will stay with JO Volleyball!
